Thousand Island/Garnet Lakes

This is an area you will want to spend at least a few days exploring. There are a number of beautiful alpine lakes and mountain passes to see as well as Mount Ritter (13,143 ft) and Banner Peak (12,945 ft). As you come into Thousand Islands Lake Banner Peak impressively rises above the lake as a lone sentinel. The lake basin is one of the most striking sights you will ever come across.

Getting There: From the town of Mammoth take 203 off of highway 395 to the Mammoth Mountain Lodge. You will have to take the Reds Meadow shuttle to the Agnew Meadow's Campground from here.
