Feature Hike

Ice Line/Little Yoho/Yoho Valley Loop

This hike offers some of the best scenery in British Columbia. Great views of glaciers, mountain peaks, and crystal clear lakes. The Iceline trailhead is on the west side of yoho valley road close to the Whiskey Jack Hostel. The nearest town is Fields about 16 km away.

The trail begins near Takakkaw Falls, at the end of Yoho Valley Road. It runs along Emerald Glacier and contacts it in 4 different places. There are numerous vista's along the way and include: Cathedral Mountain, Mount Stephen, Mount Burges, Daly Glacier, Mount Ogden, Takakkaw Falls, and Wapta Mountain. Acess to Whaleback Trail to Twin Falls and Celeste Lake.

Yoho National Park:

1) "Yoho" means "magnificent" in the Cree

2) The Park has an area of 1,130 square kilometres.

3) Bordered by Banff National Park to the east and Kootenay National Park to the south

4) Yoho's natural wonders include Kicking Horse River, Lake O'Hara, Wapta Icefield, Waputik Icefield, Emerald Glacier, Takakkaw Falls, Wapta Falls, Mt. Stephen, Natural Bridge, Burgess Shale fossil beds, hoodoo rock

5) The Park has over 248 miles of hiking trails and 25 miles of groomed cross-county skiing trails

6) There are 7 backcountry campsites, 4 drive in campgrounds and 3 other. Some take reservations while others are first come first served so research the ones you want to stay at first. Wilderness permits are also required for the backcountry.

Berg Lake, in British Columbia's Mount Robson Provincial Park, is one of the most spectacular destinations in the Canadian Rockies. This hike abounds with waterfalls, glacial lakes and views of Mt Robson, the highest peak in the canadian rockies.
